Tray Terrific™ is a non-toxic, chin-safe powder that you add to your chin's cage litter to help keep bedding drier, remove odors and help prevent disease. Whether you have one cage or multiple cages, Tray Terrific™ will keep your cage area smelling fresher and may even let you extend the time between cage cleanings.

Tray Terrific™ contains a mixture of copper sulfates, kaolin clays and iron salts that have been used very successfully for a number years in Europe. And, although we sell Tray Terrific™ for use with chinchillas, it can be used with the litter for any small animals (including cat litter boxes).

Using Tray Terrific™ is easy. At cage cleaning time, use 1 to 2 scoops for small cages or 2 to 3 scoops for medium to large cages. Sprinkle most of the Tray Terrific™ on the bottom of the cage or tray before adding litter with the emphasis on "wet spots." Then add the litter (be it pine, aspen, "care fresh", etc.). Finally, take the remaining Tray Terrific™ and lightly dust the top of the litter.

Tray Terrific™ is very economical to use since a little goes a long way. Each jar contains 1.5 lbs. (44 scoops) which will provide a fresher and healthier cage for a long time.

Good for using with pull-out trays
10/17/2010 - by Elizabeth from Bay Area, California
It smells a little like chlorine. A single tub lasts a long time.

We use this every time we clean Sprocket's cage. It definitely helps keep the sawdust drier. I have asthma, too (like the other reviewer) and I don't think this would work unless you have a "pull out" tray, because otherwise your chinchilla could disturb it, and once it gets in the air, I agree that it's a problem. In other words, it really needs to stay on the bottom of the litter tray, with plenty of shavings on top of it, or otherwise it might cause trouble for some people (and chinchillas!)

Yuck! Smells Bad!
09/10/2009 - by DeeAnne from Colorado Springs, CO US
I found this stuff was very powdery and smelled like unscented clay cat litter to me! And because it wasn't kept to just the melon jar dust bath, my asthma kicked in. My two chinnies thought it smelled like dust, too, and they threw all of their litter everywhere trying to find the stuff on the bottom of the cage and rolled in it! They did that for days even after I stopped using the stuff, so I had to just clean everything out. Maybe it works better in a different setting, but I use CareFresh white so that I can just clean where they soil during the week and stick to unscented cleaners. I prefer using Baking Soda in the trash can. Maybe Tray Terrific works well with a larger group of chins that have their own place, like on a ranch. But not in my house with asthmatics.
