Chinchillas and electrical cords don't mix. The best way
to prevent a nasty shock or even a tragic electrocution
caused by a chin chewing on a power cord is to use this
5/8" Split Flex Tubing. Simply slide your power cords,
speaker wires, etc., into the split running the length
of the tubing. The tubing doesn't make it impossible
to get to the wire inside, but it does make it much more
difficult.
The tubing is ribbed and is very flexible, yet easy to cut.
If a chin should chew a hole in the tubing, simply cut out
that section and replace it with a new section.
Covering electrical wires is an important part of "chin-proofing"
any room.
