This is something that should be in everyone's "chinchilla
first aid kit." It's a simple, ungraduated plastic 12cc
feeding syringe. We would suggest that you have one or
two of these feeding syringes on-hand just in case they
are needed.
It is used to feed adults who are being "force fed"
or who are otherwise on a liquid diet. The size of the
opening is adjusted by snipping off a portion of the
tip.
It can be used with baby food or a slurry. Here's a good
slurry recipe: Grind up some pellets (90%)and Total Enhancer
(calf manna)(10%)and add that to some Gerber's Tender
Harvest Spring Garden Vegetables baby food (or something
similar). You can also add some Nutri-Cal or feed the
Nutri-Cal separately.
Note, too, that a syringe is used for grown chinchillas,
not little babies. Use an eyedropper to feed milk to
babies.
