Rose hips are a wonderful natural treat for chins! After wild roses drop their petals, the seed-pod that is left is called a "rose hip." Rose hips are extrememly high in vitamin C (even more so than oranges for example) and they are also a good source of vitamin E, K and the B vitamins, riboflavin and folate.

Rose hips on a
 branch
Most chinchillas love dried rose hips and they are a much healthier treat than raisins.

WARNING: Too many treats can be harmful to your pet chinchilla. It's easy for first-time pet chin owners to over feed treats. Remember the general rule-of-thumb, no more than one treat per day.

Joey is a nephew of Auntie Ingrid and Uncle Charles and loves his rosehips!! It sounds like he is eating cereal (crunch crunch mmm!)

My little Chloe is officially crazy about Rose Hips! The first time I gave her one, she didn't even sniff it. She just snatched it out of my hand faster than you can say "Dust Bath" and scarfed it down! And this little girl is PICKY about her treats!

Boddington loves rose hips!
05/28/2007 - by k-rock from the lost coast of northern cal
My nine month old chinchilla ("Boddington Apple Squeeksworth the Second", a.k.a. "Chilly Billy") took to rose hips right away. He holds them in his little paws and has a lot of fun turning them around and around while munching them down. They seem to be quite good for his teeth too (not to mention a much healthier treat than raisins.. :-)

Yum Yum
03/09/2007 - by Michelle Nyman from Los Angeles, CA US
My boys love these treats very much! I only give one treat every other day to give them variety. And when this treat comes up oh how they do tricks and take it out of my hands. After they're done they give me this look, "More Please" and they know one treat per night each.

Thanks for this wonderful treat, my boys are in Heaven!

Great Treat

My chin, Chica loves these. She always takes them to her special shelf to eat. I like using it as an alternative to raisins because she eats too many raisins but she likes them both the same. I highly recommend this product.
