The Flying Saucer is a new and innovative chinchilla exercise wheel. It is extremely well made and is very safe. It features an aluminum dish with ball bearings that are supported by a 3/8-inch diameter cage hanger bracket. Mounting the wheel is quite simple and the only tool needed is small hex wrench that is included with the wheel. The dish is just under 14 inches in diameter so when tilted at an angle it can fit through cage doors as small as 9 x 12 inches or 10 x 10 inches.

Running Chin

The Flying Saucer does take up a bit more cage space than a conventional wheel and, in our experience; chins do take a little longer in learning how to run on this type of wheel. But once they catch on, they run like little track stars. There is a lot to like about this wheel… especially the price.

Cage shakes wildly!
05/13/2010 - by Megan from San Francisco, CA US
I was excited to get one of these for my Dude after he chewed through his old plastic one, but it's just as loud as the other. The whole cage shakes and it sounds like someone is trying to break into the apartment!

Everyone loves this because they say it's so quiet. What am I missing? How do I make the cage shake with less reckless abandon?

Excellent wheel, totally worth the money!
01/08/2010 - by Corley from Hazlehurst, MS US
After I paid for the wheel but before I received it, I had a little bit of buyer's remorse. But after the first few hours of owning it, I felt like it was worth every penny. I found out a great way to make him learn how to do it very quick is to put him on the wheel and put a treat in front of him, naturally he's going to start running after it. A few hours later he got on it on his own and just started running his heart out, now any waking chance he gets, he's running on that dang wheel.

All in all, it has made him a much more calm chinchilla, and now as soon as you put him back in his cage he isn't going nearly as crazy and biting the sides wanting back out, because he just goes and runs on his wheel instead.

It doesn't make too much noise, and the noise it does make is all dependent on how rickety your cage is, because the wheel itself makes absolutely no noise at all.

So in closing, I think if you own a chinchilla, you should absolutely own this wheel. It is well worth your money. Trust me, your chinchilla will thank you too.

Great Wheel, Worth Every Penny
09/07/2009 - by Barrett Forish from Abington, MA US
The flying saucer is a great wheel for any chin owner. I was skeptical at first to use it seeing the plastic ones in animal stores, but we bought it, and at first they didn't know how to use it, but eventually they got the hang of it and they love it now. It is a little costly, but worth every penny in my opinion. Just make sure that it can fit in your cage before buying.

Spend the money!!!

It really is the best "wheel" you can get. My chin loooves running on it at night and it is the quietest one I've used (I can sleep at night w/o hearing him). I've had mine for four years now and it's still going strong :)

Should Have Done This Sooner!
07/05/2009 - by Teresa Schwarzkopf from Lakeland, FL US
Pikachu went through three wheels before I discovered the Flying Saucer. It was a bit expensive compared to other wheels, but I'll tell you what. I compared prices on other websites, and ChinWorld definitely has made it the best bargain out there for chin parents. I should have invested in this wheel sooner. After going through THREE wheels within six months, this wheel has literally been a god send. Not only is it quiet and chew-proof (which those other "bargain" wheels are not), Pika absolutely adores his Saucer. He can run all he wants and it never catches or slows up, I'm not worried about him ingesting any plastic, and he doesn't have to arch his back as he runs. Most of all, he is an absolute trip to watch on it! The Flying Saucer is the ONLY wheel out there for chins.. I recommend it 110%!!!!

Great buy!
03/11/2009 - by Kristen Kowalski from Middleburg Hts., OH US
When I got this wheel, I wasn't sure if Bandit liked it -- he figured it out pretty quick (almost immediately) but I never saw him running on it. That was, until I cleaned his cage and he got stressed and jumped on the wheel to release his anxiety. I figured, okay, so it's not useless, but I don't ever see him on it any other time.

One night after doing our nightly routine, mom got sneaky and listened to what he did when I left his room... sure enough, I heard his little feet going a mile a minute on his beloved wheel after I left. I guess he is just shy about his physical fitness (lol).

Anyway, Bandit is very healthy and the wheel is so quiet and it was a month or more before I figured out he was regularly using it!! Two paws up!!

Best Wheel Money Can Buy!
02/10/2009 - by Michelle from Splendora, TX US
This wheel is extremely quiet and my chin loves it. I didn't have it fully secured before she was on it trying to use it. To think of the money that I wasted buying the plastic one's that she destroyed within days. This is a must have for any chin owner.

Don't waste your money...

...on any other wheel!! I've seriously went through so many different types of wheels and I finally decided to shell out the money for the flying saucer. At this point, I only wish I would have done it sooner. This is a great investment as it's easy to install, durable, quieter than most wheels, and safe for my little Pickles. It took Pickles about a day to figure it out and she still occasionally flies off, but she loves it!!

I Heart the Flying Saucer
11/30/2008 - by Shanden Gregory from Meadowbrook, WV US
I have 1 chin that is three months old and he loves this item sooo much. I get tons of enjoyment in watching Clyde run on it. It is truly a great product. It was a great investment.

Best investment so far
04/17/2008 - by Jasmine Truong from Santa Ana, CA US
So I just assembled this wheel...extremely easy. And it is no joke on how quiet it really is. Ninja is already on it constantly...good thing, since he is the fat one. Coconut isn't the brightest, but I'm sure she will catch on soon. Although the price will seem high to you, it is still worth getting.
