September Special MazuriŽ is made by PMI (Purina Mills Inc.) and is known as one of the best chinchilla pellet feeds available. It is good for chinchillas in all phases of their life cycle. MazuriŽ is what we feed our own chins. 5 lbs. should last a single chinchilla about 2 1/2 to 3 months. Here's some technical information about MazuriŽ: Pellet size: 5/32" diameter x 3/8" length. Guaranteed Analysis: Crude protein not less than 20.0% Crude fat not less than 3.0% Crude fiber not more than 18.0% Ash not more than 9.0% Added minerals not more than 1.5% Storing: Keep MazuriŽ Chinchilla Diet stored in a cool, dry place where it will not absorb odors or flavor from other materials which chinchillas dislike. To prolong freshness store in a refrigerator sealed in a glass jar. Can be frozen for later use, but we do not recommend this as a general practice. Eva and Chloe never touched the chinchilla food I bought from Petsmart! I tried everything then after searching online, I found that Mazuri was recommended, so I bought my first bag from here! Chloe and Eva actually EAT! I continue to buy my food from here and I would recommend this to any first-time owner! Chloe and Eva both give two paws up!

ChinWorld promptly sent our first order of Mazuri (10 pounds) nearly a year ago, just after our Jake had his first serious illness from refusing food (from teeth problems and raisin-overdoses, as it turned out). After weeks of Oxbow supplement force-feeding, he started to gain weight again, and then worked into the full-time mazuri pellets diet, with banana chips (only) for treats. He loves the pellets. We've had two "eating disorder" problems recently -- one resolved by more tooth-grinding at the vet's, and this one -- because I'd thought we still had a spare jar of our mazuri supply, when actually we were on the last cup full. We ran out and had to give him retail store pellets, which he has steadfastly refused for the past week. (It took us so long to catch on because we all assumed the other's were refilling his food bowl.) He has been surviving on hay and alfalfa (horse) pellets. Needless to say, we give Mazuri an enthusiastic thumbs up -- we're hoping that "first-aid" responses to not eating will suffice until the new order arrives.
